Omega-3 fatty acids are critical structural and functional components of cell membranes. They also play a key role in blood lipid metabolism and heart health. DHA is found in the highest concentrations in the brain and retina. DHA contributes to brain development, nervous system function, and normal eye health. ALA have been shown to be converted into EPA and DHA within human tissues however the conversion is very inefficient. ALA can also be found in higher concentration in the brain.
