How is the scalp different from other skin areas?

Scalp skin is thicker than facial skin, providing ample blood flow and a strong anchor for hair follicles and has more sebaceous glands. It also tends to have a weaker protective barrier than the rest of our skin as it is normally covered by hair fibres. Excess oil in combination with this more delicate barrier can make it difficult to properly clean, requiring intentional care.
